One week left to live (10/31)

“I am sorry Sandra but I have bad news, the test results said you have terminal cancer and you only have one week to live,” said Doctor Smith. Sandra looks at him for a second and immediately starts crying. How could this be happening to her? She was supposed to get married in a three weeks to the love of her life. What was she doing wrong all this time? The doctor starts talking some more but she wasn’t listening. Her mind went completely blank. Sandra pulls out her phone and calls her fiancé. He doesn’t answer so she leaves a message. Once she hangs up she starts walking out the hospital. The doctor chases after her but she manages to escape. She couldn’t be there one more second it was too depressing. The news she just received ruined her life.
Her phone starts ringing and it is her fiancé.
“Hello,” she answers trying to hold back her tears.
“I got your message sweetheart, I am so sorry. I left work as soon as I could and I am on my way to pick you up,” said Justin.
“Ok,” said Sandra. She hands up and waits patiently for him to get to the hospital. She forgot that her mother was supposed to pick her up whenever she got out of her appointment but she didn’t want to tell her mother the news, it would kill her. She just sends her a text telling her that Justin was going to pick her up and she didn’t need to worry about it.
An hour passed by and Justin finally pulls up to the pickup area and parks his car. He gets out of the car.
“Sorry I took so long baby I made a few quick stops before I came here,” said Justin.
“It’s ok I guess, where did you go,” asked Sandra.
“You’ll find out later, but for now just get in the car,” says Justin as he opened the door for Sandra. She doesn’t hesitate and does exactly what she is told. Sandra looks in the back of the car and notices that he had clothes packed in suitcases. She wondered what he was doing with all that.
“Where are we going Justin,” asked Sandra.
“You’ll see,” replied Justin. How could he have done it in such a short amount of time?
They have been riding in the car for hours; Sandra gets tired and ends up taking a nap. Justin finds the nearest rest stop to use the restroom. Before he gets out of the car he takes a second to stare at Sandra, the next few days he had left with her he was going to make sure it would be the best days of her life. He knew things would never be the same without her so he was going to make the best of it. Justin kissed her on the cheek and finally got out of the car to do what he had to do.

Tim

Tim walks out of the office with his things. He had just gotten fired and was trying to figure out how he was going to tell his wife. This was the job she helped him get. Janeth went through so much trying to get him that job. Tim was worthless without her help. She was going to be so disappointed in him. Tim’s phone vibrates and it is Janeth, she asks him how work is going. Tim doesn’t know if he should lie to her or tell her the truth. He hesitates in pressing send, Tim doesn’t know if this was going to be the right thing to do. He finally manages to send the message with the lie telling his wife he was doing great at work. Janeth was supposed to leave this morning for a meeting that was out of town so Tim had plenty of time to figure out how he was going to tell her when she got back. Tim’s phone vibrates again and this time his wife tells him she will be visiting him at work today because her meeting got cancelled. He drops the phone.
“What the fuck,” mumbled Tim under his breath. Tim was losing his mind. He had no idea what he was going to do. Tim reaches down to pick up his phone and puts it back into his pocket. There was no way he would be able to get away with this; he had to think of a new plan as soon as possible.
Tim goes home to drop of his things and his phone keeps vibrating. It was his wife calling. Tim doesn’t know if he should answer or if he should ignore the call. He lets it ring and walks away. All of a sudden the house phone rings. Tim checks to see who it is, and it is his wife. He is terrified now and decides to answer.
“Hello,” answers Tim calmly.
“Tim what the fuck, I went to your office and Jake tells me he fired you earlier,” yelled Janeth.
“Yes, I didn’t want to tell you because I was ashamed,” said Tim.
“So you would rather lie…” said Janeth.
“I didn’t know how to tell you, I am such a fuck up,” said Tim.
“You aren’t a fuck up, Jake never liked you because I chose you instead of him, but you just fucked up,” said Janeth and hung up.
Tim was in trouble, he should have never lied to her. He tried calling her but it went straight to voicemail. He sent her a text telling her how sorry he was but she still didn’t bother to reply or call him back. Tim knew exactly where she was and it made him angry. He drives down to his old job and goes straight to Jakes office. Just as Tim thought Janeth was in there with him. Tim opens the door and walks in and sits down beside Janeth. Jake tells him to leave.
“If I leave she has to come with me,” says Tim.
“I don’t want to go anywhere with you Tim, you lied to me,” says Janeth.
Jake starts laughing.
“I don’t see how this is funny,” said Tim.
Jake doesn’t say anything.
“Oh I see, you did this on purpose. You fired me because you knew I wouldn’t handle it well and lie to her and then she would be mad,” says Tim.
“Is this true,” asked Janeth.
Jake nods his head.

“Wow you are pathetic, I didn’t want you then I sure as hell don’t want you now,” says Janeth as she walks out the door with Tim.

George

George wasn’t feeling it today at practice, he felt like he was already the best on the team and he didn’t have to worry about practicing much more.
“Coach is it okay if I just sit out this practice… or maybe until the competition on the weekend,” asked George. The coach looked at him with disbelief.
“Are you serious right now George,” asked the coach.
“Yes, I feel like I have worked hard enough and deserve a break,” said George.
“But practice makes perfect, and you aren’t there yet.”
“I have made two records already how much better do you want me to get,” yelled George.
“It isn’t about records George, there is always going to be someone out there can meet up to your potential so you need to keep practicing,” yelled the coach.
George walked away, he was tired of listening to his coach. George was going to stay and practice but he wasn’t going to put 100% effort in anything. George ran around the track. His feet soared with little effort. The coach was on the phone so George could care less if he was doing good or not. When George finishes his fourth lap he notices that the coach wasn’t there anymore.
“Well if he isn’t going to be here neither will I,” said George as he walks out of the track. He walks around the parking lot waiting for his mom to pick him up when he sees his coach pull up. The coach puts his car in park, his door and the backseat door open at the same time. Who could be getting out of there everyone else were already on the track.
“Come and meet your new teammate George,” said the coach.
George walks to the other side of the car and it is William Johnson. William was the best runner from our competition.
“What is he doing here, isn’t he our competition,” asked George.
“I am good friends with his father and we figured something out for him to be on our team,” said the coach.
“Hi, I can’t wait for this weekend,” said William.
“Yeah, me either,” said George.
William and the coach walk down to the field together joking around as if they are the best of friends. George follows them down there to be nosey. George sends his mother a text asking her to come pick him up later. When they finally get down to the track he sits on the bleachers and watches William practice. William was way better than George thought. He felt bad for yelling at his coach because now he wouldn’t win the competition. George gets up from the bleachers and tells his coach he was going to warm up.
“I am sorry George but William will be taking your place there is no need for y0u to warm up,” said the coach.
“What about the competition, that was my spot to compete in,” said George.
“Well you wanted to rest and I will not have bums on my team, sorry isn’t that what you wanted,” said the coach with a smirk on his face.

George couldn’t believe this was happening. His coach didn’t have to take it this far. George walks to the parking lot with his dreams crushed.

cafe

Jasmine was patiently waiting at Starbucks for her boyfriend Carl. He told her to meet him there an hour ago; she wondered why he wasn’t there yet. Jasmine gets her phone out of her purse so she can call him. Carl answers and tells her he is running late but that he will be there soon and then hangs up.
“That’s strange, how come he didn’t even let me speak,” said Jasmine to herself. She finds a way to distract herself while she waits; she gets on snapchat and watches everyone’s story. When she watches Carl’s story she notices that Victoria is in it. At this point she is furious because Carl told her that he wasn’t talking to her anymore. Victoria has been the main topic of their arguments. Jasmine puts her phone down and attempts to calm down, when she finally does Carl and Victoria walk in the café together holding hands. Was Jasmine imagining this? Carl and Victoria sit in the seats in front of Jasmine. Jasmine looks at both of them and starts laughing.
“Are you kidding me,” asked Jasmine.
“No,” said Victoria.
“I have been waiting for the right time to tell you,” said Carl.
“Oh so you choose the day before our three year anniversary,” asked Jasmine.
“I know it isn’t what you want, but it is what I want,” said Carl.
“You are so pathetic Carl, I gave you everything for you to just let me go for that piece of trash,” said Jasmine.
“I will not sit here and let you insult me,” said Victoria.
“I don’t care you are irrelevant,” said Jasmine.
“Don’t talk to her like that Jasmine,” said Carl.
“I don’t care about her right now; we have been together for three years and she comes out of nowhere and is all of a sudden better than me, what kind of shit is that,” yelled Jasmine. People in the café start to look at her. Jasmine didn’t care right now she was furious.
“Does she even know about the baby,” asked Jasmine.
“Shut up Jasmine,” said Carl.
“What baby,” asked Victoria.
“I am two months pregnant with his child and he wants me to get rid of it, oh and it’s probably so he can be with you,” said Jasmine. Victoria looked at Carl before she got up and left. Carl tried to chase her down but she managed to escape.
“What did you do Jasmine, you messed this up for me,” said Carl.
“Messed it up for you, you just ruined my life, I wasted three years of my life for nothing, I put so much effort into this relationship for nothing, and now I am pregnant with your child but I want you to have no part in my baby’s life,” said Jasmine with tears in her eyes.
“I will never stop caring about you Jasmine,” said Carl.
“I don’t need your pity now Carl, I will be fine without you, maybe even better, I wish you the best with Victoria but don’t ever try to get in contact with me,” said Jasmine.
She took off her promise ring he gave her and set it on the table.

“I hope you remember that I gave you everything when you had nothing, I was here for you when you had no one. I really hope Victoria makes you happy,” said Jasmine as she walked out of the café.

Monster

Kassandra was a new kid at her school. Nobody wanted to talk to her because she didn’t look like the rest of the children
“Hey look the freak is back,” said one of the kids in the hallway. Kids started laughing and pointed their fingers at her. Kassandra put her head down and attempted to zone out so she wouldn’t have to hear them making fun of her. She knew her mother should have let her stay being home schooled. When she got to her locker there was a drawing of her, she started crying because they drew her so well. People hated her there and she felt like a complete oddball.
Kassandra ran to the bathroom to wipe away her tears, she didn’t want anyone to see that they could get to her. She needed to prove to them that no matter what they say or do to her she would stay strong. Kassandra looked in the mirror and stared at herself with disgust.
“I am hideous,” said Kassandra. She kept noticing all of her flaws and it made it hate herself even more because the flaws were never ending. She had an enormous head, with untamable hair. Kassandra’s small body made her look even odder. Her eyes were huge they would usually freak everyone out. Her whiskers weren’t something anybody that was normal had. The worst part of all was that she had demon features. Her horn and a tail would call her a devil but in reality she was a sweetheart. Last but not least she had four arms with sharp claws. The claws were so sharp if she accidently scratch something it would rip apart completely. She had to be careful every time she was near people or else she would cut them. Kassandra walks out of the bathroom and all of a sudden a group of kids come out of nowhere and start taking pictures of her.
“Oh my god she is so ugly,” said a random kid.
“Yeah why is she even alive, she doesn’t belong here,” said another kid while laughing. Every kid agreed with that kid and started throwing books at Kassandra.
“Get out of her freak, we don’t want you here,” yelled everyone.

“But I haven’t done anything wrong,” said Kassandra as she ran away. Kassandra was tired of coming to school every day just to get tortured when she hasn’t done anything wrong. No matter how hard she tried she couldn’t get over the fact that they treat her horribly for no reason. Kassandra just didn’t know how to handle it anymore. She ends up walking far from school. Everyone just keeps staring at her. She puts her head down and avoids any eye contact. Kassandra continues to walk until she reaches the perfect spot. She was now standing in front of a bridge. She kept asking herself if she should jump. It's not like anyone would care thought Kassandra. She looks around and notices everyone is still staring at her with disgust. That is her sign, Kassandra smiles and jumps off the bridge.

Nightmare

"Ahhhhh," screamed Sandra as she wakes up abruptly. In her dream she was in the middle of running from a woman trying to kill her. She wipes the sweat off of her forehead and sits in the edge of the bed. This was strange to Sandra because she never had a bad dream. Did this mean something she thought? She reaches for her phone to check the time.
"Man I have to get ready for work now,” said Sandra with disappointment. She should have never answered the phone when they called her in for work last night. When Sandra is finished getting ready she walks out her house and locks her door then heads towards her car.
Riding with her top down, Sandra is blasting her music on her way to work. Arriving to the entrance of her job there is a homeless family of three sitting on the edge of the sidewalk begging for money. Sandra never liked giving money to homeless people because she felt they could get a job or find another way to maintain their family without begging. When Sandra parks her car the mother of the two children approaches Sandra’s car and asks for some spare change. Sandra completely ignored the lady and kept walking until she got to the door of her job. She could hear the lady mumble under her breath. Sandra looks back and the lady was nowhere to be found. This was the second time this has happened to her.
All day at work Sandra kept thinking about the homeless lady. She looked familiar, and then all of a sudden she remembered her nightmare.
“Sandra what is wrong with you today,” asked Lisa her boss.
“Nothing, I’m just tired,” said Sandra.
“Ok well since it is slow you are more than welcome to go home,” said Lisa.
“I was only here for six hours that isn’t even half of my shift,” says Sandra.
“I don’t care how long you were here for get out or you are fired,” shouted Lisa.
Sandra gets her things and walks out to her car. Trying to look for her keys in her purse she notices a note on her windshield. It said watch your back.
Sandra looks around trying to see if anybody was around watching her. She finally finds her keys and speeds out of there. What in the world is going on thought Sandra? She feels her phone vibrating in her purse and takes it out to see who is calling once she sees who it is she ignores it. Her ex boyfriend was always sending her messages threatening her.
“Oh my god it all makes sense now, he is the one that left that note on my car,” said Sandra. Quickly making a U-turn she is on her way to his house. He lives pretty far but she doesn’t have anything better to do and this was going too far so she needed to end it now.
Two hours go by and she finally arrives to his house. Sandra gets out of her car and yells his name. it is dark outside
“Who is that making all that noise,” asks Daniel.
“Daniel it is Sandra, why the hell are you constantly bothering me,” asked Sandra.
“What are you talking about,” asked Daniel.
“The note you left me on my car and the phone call you made right after I found it,” yelled Sandra.
“I never left a note on your car I haven’t even left my house all day and I lost my phone two days ago so that couldn’t have been me Sandra,” said Daniel.
“How am I supposed to believe that when you would always leave me crazy texts ever since we broke up?”
“You broke up with me three days ago and I lost my phone two days ago add the pieces up Sandra that was not me doing this to you.”
“Then who is doing this to me, this is crazy and I am starting to get scared,” said Sandra.
“It will be ok, do you want to come inside for a bit,” asked Daniel.
“Yes that would be great but I can only stay for a little while.”
Sandra walks inside the house with Daniel and sits on his couch. Daniel goes to the kitchen and grabs a couple beers. Sandra grabs one and starts drinking, whenever she is stressed out she becomes an alcoholic. She finished two bottles and kept asking for more but Daniel told her that wasn’t a good idea because she had a long drive back home.
“Come on Daniel you know I am good at driving drunk,” said Sandra.
“I won’t let you take the risk, I care about you Sandra maybe you should spend the night here.”
“Are you only doing this so we can get back together because I don’t want to get back together with you sorry.”
“No Sandra I am doing this because you are in danger.”
“It is time for me to go, thanks for the time I wasted here.”
“Sandra stop being ridiculous right now. I am tired of your shit. That’s why you are lonely because you constantly push people away and now you lost me permanently don’t ever come looking for me again!”
Sandra is upset now because what he said was true. She had no one, she was always pushing people away and she never knew why. She started crying and looked back to look at Daniel but he had already closed the door on her. Daniel was so disappointed in Sandra all he wanted to do was be there for her. She lost the only person that would actually be there for her. He really cared about Sandra it killed him to let her go. He felt like that was the only way she will realize she needed to change.
Sandra didn’t have a jacket on and it was freezing. She looked up at the sky. The moon was shining bright. It was beautiful but it didn’t make Sandra feel any better. Her night couldn’t possibly get worse she thought.
It took her longer than expected to get home because she was a little buzzed and she didn’t want to get pulled over by a cop.
Once she turns into her drive way she parks her car immediately. She was so tired all she wanted to do was sleep so she wouldn’t have to think about Daniel or anyone else. Walking to her door step she trips over something. Sandra gets back up and looks at what she tripped over. It is a little boy sleeping on top of a lady. Sandra screams! They boy and the lady wake up.
“Who are you and what are you doing on my property,” asked Sandra.
The lady doesn’t say anything she just stares at Sandra.
“We are sorry to bother you but this was the nearest house we got to, my boy is really tired and he just wanted to sleep but we will leave if you want us to,” said the lady.
Sandra had to think about it. She had no idea who these people were and had no idea what they were capable of. Sandra looked at the little boy and he looked at her with his sweet blue eyes. She had no choice but to let them in her home.
“It is ok; I think it would be better if yall came inside. It is freezing cold out here and it isn’t good for yall so come follow me,” said Sandra as she opens the door to her house.
The lady picks up the boy and she walks inside of Sandra’s house. Sandra goes upstairs to find some blankets and pillows so they can sleep in the living room.
“Thank you so much Sandra,” says the boy.
Sandra stares at him confused.
“How do you know my name,” asked Sandra.
“It was just a guess,” says the lady as she covers the boy’s mouth.
That was real strange to Sandra but she doesn’t pay much attention to it. She tells her guests goodnight and heads upstairs to her room. Knowing it wouldn’t be easy going to sleep she takes some Nyquil to help her out. Once it kicks in she is knocked out.
“Ahhhhhh,” screamed Sandra. She wakes up having the same nightmare as last night. This time when she tries getting up she can’t because her hands and legs are tied up restraining her from moving.
“What the fuck is going on,” yells Sandra. As soon as she says that the lady from yesterday walks in with a knife.
“Hello Sandra, I have been waiting for this day to come,” says the lady while she smirks.
“I don’t even know who you are how do you know my name,” asked Sandra.
“I am the lady you always fuck over.”
Sandra just stares at this crazy woman.
“How the hell did you get in my house,” asked Sandra. The lady points at the other lady from last night.
“How could you do this to me, I let you in my home when you needed help and you fucked me over,” said Sandra.
“This was all a plan,” said the first lady.
Sandra was so confused. She had no idea what to do. There was no way she could get out of the rope she was tied up with. This was the end of her life she wished she could have done things better. Sandra closes her eyes and tells the lady to just kill her already.
“I am not going to kill you dumb ass, I just wanted to teach you a lesson.”
Sandra just lays there clueless. She still has no idea why this started in the first place. She was so angry right now, Sandra starts cussing up a storm but everyone was already out of the house. She is still tied up on the bed and had no idea how she was ever going to get out she had nobody. Sandra starts screaming hoping one of her neighbors will hear her and come to the rescue. All of a sudden Daniel is in her room and he starts laughing.
“What the heck are you doing tied up,” asked Daniel.
Sandra just rolls her eyes and tells him to untie her.
“I will tell you later,” said Sandra.
“I came to apologize for the way I talked to you last night, I didn’t mean to talk to you that way I was just upset,” said Daniel.

Sandra smiled and couldn’t have asked for anyone better. She had learned her lesson.

The park

It was September 2nd. It has been exactly sixty nine years since World War ll was over. Two old men were walking around a park like they usually do every day.
“I’m getting tired, maybe we should sit down,” said Soloman.
“You’re right I’m getting tired as well,” said Abraham. They both walk to the nearest bench and sit down. Abraham catches Soloman staring at the identification tattoo on his arm. Abraham quickly covers the tattoo with his hand and attempts to start a conversation.
“So how is your wife doing Soloman,” asked Abraham.
“She is doing well, thanks for asking,” replied Soloman.
They both sit in awkward silence until Soloman pushes Abraham’s hand away from where he was hiding the tattoo.
“You don’t have to hide it from me Abraham,” said Soloman.
“I am just ashamed of having it in the first place, I don’t want people asking me about it either,” said Abraham.
“I know, it is a sensitive topic, but you can’t keep hiding it forever,” said Soloman.
“I try so hard every day to forget my experience in Auschwitz but it will never happen,” said Abraham.
“I can’t forget about the experience I had fighting in the war,” said Soloman.
“I was ten years old when my family was forced to get on the train to Poland, I had no idea where we were going, everyone heard rumors but we never knew for sure until we stepped foot off that train,” said Abraham.
Soloman just looked at Abraham and listened.
“The ride there was horrible, we were all cramped up in one place, we were treated as if we were animals and I never understood why.”
Tears start to go down Abrahams face but he wipes it away quickly.
“I will never forget the day we arrived because that was the last day I would ever see my family again.”
“My mother and my father caught the flu while we were in the train they tried to hide the symptoms or else they would be left to die in the cold.”
Abraham looks up at the sky trying to hold back the tears from coming faster.
“The day we arrived my parents were already too weak to get out of the train so when the Nazis yelled at them to get out they couldn’t, the Nazis took it as them disobeying orders and shot them in front of everyone.”
“I am so sorry Abraham,” said Soloman.

“I know I am a survivor but sometimes I wish I wasn’t so I wouldn’t have to live the rest of my life with those dreadful memories,” said Abraham.
